Sadly this seems to have crept up somewhat over recent years.Īnyway, back to the present day, this SD encode wasn't 250-300mb like I'd expect but 50mb! I had to download out of sheer curiosity and it was absolutely fine. The standard size for a SD show is typically 175mb for a 20min show and 350mb for a 40min show, which meant you could fit a whole season of a drama on two DVD-r discs. So I went looking and I turned up a copy that was encoded in H.265 (aka HEVC).
Yesterday I was looking for an episode of a TV show I watch and it wasn't available from my usual source.
